Venue: Zagreb
Zagreb is a central European city with a charming combination
of Western European business style and Mediterranean informality.
Zagreb is also one of Europe's oldest cities and one of Europe's
youngest capitals. Every visitor will find a favorite street,
park, or square, be it behind the well-preserved walls of its
romantic Upper Town, or in a daily hustle and bustle of cafes
and stores in its Downtown. Also available are excellent restaurants,
museums, theaters, and sports facilities. Further on, the wonderful
coast of northern Adriatic, as well as the exceptional Plitvice
Lakes National Park, are just a few hours' drive away.

Local transportation to/from the airport
Zagreb Airport is located 17 km from the centre of the city (about
25 minutes by bus).
BUS/TRAM
The cheapest option to get to the city is to take
an airport shuttle bus, operated by "Croatia
Airlines".
The bus has two terminals, one located at the Airport terminal,
and the other, located the center of Zagreb, at the Central Bus
station (Autobusni kolodvor, Avenija Marina Drzica). The bus terminal
at the Airport is located just outside the airport building. A
one-way ticket costs 25 HRK and may be bought
from the driver. Buses run at half-hour intervals. See bus
schedule.
Once at the Central bus station, you may take a tram to your hotel.
The tram ticket costs 6.50 HRK when bought in
advance (kiosk or newspaper stand), and 8 HRK when
bought from the driver. [Do NOT use trams without a valid ticket
-- if caught, you pay a fine of 150 HRK on the spot.] Please note
that public transportation fares are only payable in Croatian
Kuna (HRK).
TAXI
A more comfortable and more expensive option is to take a taxi.
The taxi terminal at the Airport is located just outside the airport
building, but BE WARNED: the drivers often take advantage of arriving
travelers and may charge you as much as a double normal fare to
get to the city.
For those who wish to take a taxi, we suggest that you pre-order
a taxi at a fixed price of 180 HRK (or 25 EUR).
Taxi may be pre-ordered a few days before you leave for Zagreb
by sending an e-mail to milan.j@vip.hr or by
phone +385 91 200 30 40.
In your e-mail, please note that you are attending ConTEL
2003, specify your name, the date
of your arrival and your flight number.
You should receive a confirmation that your
request is accepted. You may use this taxi service during
your stay and on your departure from Zagreb as well.
